NACRE Rural Services Survey 2011/12

During September and October 2011, we updated our rural services survey which was last carried out in Winter 2009/2010. The aim was to establish local evidence to assist in targeting rural needs. A robust knowledge base is needed to champion rural interests and also to help policymakers such as Local Authorities and other statutory agencies make provision for rural needs.

We wrote to Parish Councils and invited them to select one person or a group of people to complete the survey on behalf of the whole community. The survey covered a wide range of topics:
· Community buildings and recreation
· Retailing and businesses
· Public services
· Education
· Transport
· Food and hospitality
· Housing and utilities
· Communication
· Community led planning
· Tourism
Thank you to everyone who took part in the survey. However we are aware that  not every village was able to take part in the survey at the time and in response to requests, we decided to reopen the survey from 12th March to 13th April 2012 (5 weeks).

The survey is now closed and a summary of the findings of this survey will be posted on our website and detailed in Village Viewpoint later in the year.
