Best community website competition 2013

Best community website awards evening

Geddington.net wins the overall Best Community Website

Geddington website editors winning best websiteWell it finally arrived…the evening to celebrate all the best in community websites and awarding of prizes to the winners, took place on Wednesday 4th September at the Hunsbury Hill Centre. An excellent turnout heard our guest speaker, John Griff, highlight how valuable community websites are for people, like himself, who work in radio and other forms of media, as they are usually the first place a researcher will to go to in order to obtain background information about any news item being included on the show.  So it is vital that the sites are up to date, well designed and easy to use. And it is fair to say that all our winners met that criteria.

With over 30 entrants for the competition it was very difficult to chose the winners in each category and a number only just missed being voted best in their category. Particular commendations go to Kings Sutton, Bradlaugh Fields and Barns, Gayton, Semilong and Stanwick Village Hall. In fact in the category of Best Informative Site, there were such a high number of excellent sites entered that we decided to award two prizes in this category. Download the slides from the evening. The winners in all the categories are:
