Our new Honorary President

Tuesday, September 1, 2020

The Trustees and staff of Northamptonshire ACRE would like to welcome Mr James Saunders Watson, Lord-Lieutenant of Northamptonshire, as our new Honorary President.

It has always been the custom for the Lord-Lieutenant of Northamptonshire to be the Honorary President of Northamptonshire ACRE and Mr Saunders Watson has kindly agreed to take on this role.  Our previous President, Mr David Laing, relinquished his appointment as HM Lord-Lieutenant of Northamptonshire earlier this year, but David has agreed to continue as one of our Honorary Vice-Presidents. Everyone at Northamptonshire ACRE sends thanks to David for all his support of the charity during his time as our Honorary President.

Mr Saunders Watson was born in Gloucestershire and spent his early years in Hampshire, Dartmouth and Bermuda, before moving to Rockingham Castle in 1971 when his father inherited the Estate from his Great Uncle. He has had a varied career primarily in the asset management industry and is currently a partner in Warhorse Partners, a brand, communications and marketing consultancy. He also served ten years in the Royal Navy as a Seaman Officer. He lives with his wife and chldren at Rockingham Castle, where they manage the Estate, which includes a portfolio of agricultural, commercial and residential property, an arable farming operation and the visitor attraction associated with the Castle and its Park, including events such as the Rockingham International Horse Trials.
