Northamptonshire ACRE Board of Trustees
We are independent charitable organisation that provides advice and guidance to rural communities throughout the County. The charity’s mission is to eradicate social isolation and deprivation in rural areas. The Charity functions with a Board of Trustees who support the management team. The Charity is responsible for monitoring the activities of our trading arm, The Hunsbury HIll Centre Ltd, that trades under the name of The Barns at Hunsbury Hill.
The role of Trustee involves being a part of the governance management and other responsibilities of a trustee and they meet four times a year. The current board are:
Gareth Lugar-Mawson (Chair): Gareth is a former Hong Kong High Court Judge with a substantial background in criminal and civil litigation, as well as business and financial matters. He has been a trustee of Northamptonshire ACRE since 2006 and a Director of The Hunsbury Hill Centre Ltd since 2013.
Ken Christy (Vice Chair): Ken runs an independent consultancy, Ken Christy Rural Support, that work with Individuals, SME’s and Estate Management to realise their vision. Ken has been a Trustee of Northamptonshire ACRE since 2014.
David Scudamore: David's background is in planning and environmental work with Northants County Council and he was responsible for helping to set up many environmental policies and projects within the county. David was a Trustee of NACRE until 2014 when he retired. He returned as a Trustee in 2017.
Richard Hollingum: Rcihard was a lecturer in journalism and media studies at Northampton Uni until he retired. He was also a Parish Councillor and succesfully helped set up Creaton Community Shop. he joined the NACRE Board in 2014. he is also a director of The Hunsbury Hill Centre.
Cameron Waldron: Cameron's backgrond was originally in Personnel and HR. Since 2000 he has worked as a Mortgage & Protection Adviser, an IFA and is Director of New England Financial Solutions Ltd. Cameron became a Trustee of the charity in 2017.
Miranda Wixon: Miranda Wixon, free spirit, Queens Nurse, community and social activist who has led many national and local action speaking out for the problems of poverty in all its forms notably food and rural. Miranda works tirelessly for the rights of every individual to be free from poverty and supported within active communities. Chair, Trustee and Volunteer for many national and Northamptonshire based VCSE organisations. Founder of the Community Larder movement in Northamptonshire. Provided 40,500 food boxes into 91 villages in Northamptonshire during the lockdowns. Chair of VCSE Assembly in Northamptonshire. Founder and first chair of Think Local Act Personal making personalisation a priority. Founder and former chair of the Care Providers Alliance to raise standards in social care. Founder of Healthwatch Brent and chair bringing the communities voice to health. Founder of the United Kingdom Home Care Association making care a professional business. Campaigner and former trustee of Hourglass campaigning against adult abuse. Active member in faith community. Parish Councillor.

Do you have some time to spare? Are you interested in helping rural communities improve their quality of life especially for the disadvantaged? If so we would love to hear from you. Northamptonshire ACRE is an independent charitable organisation providing advice and guidance to rural communities throughout the County and our mission is to eradicate social isolation and deprivation in rural areas. We welcome passionate, dynamic people who have an interest in rural affairs. NACRE is keen to increase the diversity of our Trustee Board and encourage applications from all groups and ages in society. An understanding of the charity and voluntary sector would be beneficial but is not obligatory.
Successful applicants will be encouraged to engage in the development of the strategic direction the Charity has recently set out. Trustees are not paid a fee, but travel expenses are reimbursed.
